GP & Healthcare Professional Referral Scheme
While the majority of our patients self-refer (or are referred by their family or friends), we also receive regular referrals from GPs and healthcare professionals including psychiatrists and psychologists.
TMS is gaining wide recognition in the healthcare and mental health sectors as a potential treatment option for an increasing range of conditions, yet there are very few established TMS clinics with the credentials of Smart TMS. The Dublin clinic was opened in 2017 and has helped a great many patients to find remission from conditions including depression, anxiety, addition and OCD. With a further network of clinics across the UK, the company is clinically led by Dr Leigh Neal, a consultant psychiatrist with over 20 years’ experience.
GP & Professional Referrals
Now it’s easier than ever for healthcare professionals to refer their patients, as Smart TMS has a quick referral form, so that professionals can refer their patients in a matter of minutes.
The process is completely confidential. Once you have submitted your details, one of our team will contact you directly so that they are fully briefed before they contact the patient direct. We’ll also discuss what kind of reporting and feedback you require, if any.
Then the initial conversation with your patient will include:
- Full explanation of transcranial magnetic stimulation treatment
- What to expect in terms of treatment journey – how it feels, when you can expect to notice the difference, side effects (rare/minimal)
- Pre-consultation questionnaires, including a medical history, PHQ-9 and HADS
The clinician taking on clinical responsibility will normally (with patient consent) write to you following the initial consultation to let you know what course of treatment has been prescribed. They will also keep you informed of the progress with a discharge report.
